چکیده

A challenging problem in sensor network research is location discovery. In this paper, we present TPSS, a time-based positioning scheme for sensor networks with short-range beacons1. By measuring Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA) of signals from those nearby beacons, nodes can use TPSS, according to the range differences, to effectively estimate their locations through trilateration. After a sensor gets localized, it can act as a beacon and use its computed position to help others on location discovery. This iterative procedure helps to resolve more sensors with unknown positions. We also propose iTPSS as an enhancement to improve the localization accuracy by means of a clustering-based position re nement. Features of TPSS and iTPSS include high scalability in network size, low communication overhead, no requirement for time synchronization, etc. Extensive simulations have been conducted and the results indicate that both schemes are effective and ef cient for location discovery in sensor networks with short range beacons, and iTPSS outperforms TPSS in positioning accuracy.

TPSS: A Time-Based Positioning Scheme for Sensor Networks with Short Range Beacons

Location discovery is a challenging problem in sensor networks. However, many sensor network applications require the availability of the physical sensor positions. In this paper, we present TPSS, a time-based positioning scheme for sensor networks when a number of short-range beacons are randomly and uniformly deployed. By measuring the Time Difference of Arrivals (TDoAs) of signals from nearb...

iTPS: an improved location discovery scheme for sensor networks with long-range beacons

In this paper, we present time-based positioning scheme (iTPS), a purely localized location detection scheme for sensor networks with long-range beacons. iTPS relies on time difference of arrival (TDoA) of radio frequency (RF) signals measured locally at each sensor to detect range differences from the sensor to four base stations. These range differences are combined to estimate the sensor loc...

SLAT: Secure Localization with Attack Tolerance

Accurate and secure localization is essential to the correct operation of many applications of sensor networks. However, existing methods lack concrete security mechanisms or are not resilient to beacon node compromise. We address the limitations of present approaches in this paper through the Secure Localization with Attack Tolerance (SLAT) protocol. In SLAT, non-beacon nodes estimate their po...

A Secure and Low Cost Range-Free Localization Algorithm for Mobile Sensor Networks

In these days, it is very important to trace a mobile in the vast mobile sensor network. It is mainly for identifying the location of the person who is using that mobile. For this application, the location of the mobile node (mobile) is to be found. This process is known as localization. Out of different types of localization techniques, range-free localization approaches are cost-effective for...

LPKP: location-based probabilistic key pre-distribution scheme for large-scale wireless sensor networks using graph coloring

Communication security of wireless sensor networks is achieved using cryptographic keys assigned to the nodes. Due to resource constraints in such networks, random key pre-distribution schemes are of high interest. Although in most of these schemes no location information is considered, there are scenarios that location information can be obtained by nodes after their deployment. In this paper,...
